The Ku Klux Klan is the most well-known hate group in America. At its height, the group boasted a membership of up to 4 million.


Though most may think of them as a group that eventually dwindled in the 60s, they are still very active today, with current numbers between 8,000 and 10,000.


Peter van Agtmael, a photographer working for a European magazine, headed over to Tennessee and Maryland to photograph members of the KKK. His photographs offer the world a glimpse into the lives of members of America’s infamous hate group…
